While October may be officially over, those of us with a passion for Halloween can still get a little thrill from visiting the Vampire grave in Exeter, RI. While some local kids (including myself until recently) have thought the grave to be located at the scary little church in West Greenwich, it is actually located just off of 102 in Exeter at the Chestnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. After dark is most fun obviously but all cemeteries close at dusk so if you do venture out at night don't get yourself arrested.
A side note: The grave in West Greenwich is that of Nellie Vaughn who was never rumored to be a Vampire until a local high school teacher told her students the story in the 1960's and they went on a search for the grave of a 19 year old girl located somewhere off Rt 102. Nellie's gravestone is no longer located at the cemetery in question due to vandalism (but it's one scary graveyard anyway!).
